چکیده

This paper presents a general structure for Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) equalizers from which we can derive instances such as the: two proposed Linear Equalizers with Extrinsic Feedback (LE-EF), Linear Equalizer (LE) and Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE). The Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) chart was used to analyze the two proposed MMSE LE-EF receivers and their characteristics was compared to the existing MMSE LE and Maximum A Posterior (MAP) equalizers used in turbo equalization. We show by using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test that the Gaussian assumption on the probability density function (PDF) of the a priori equalizer information after the first iteration is not valid. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of one of the MMSE LE-EF receivers does approach the MAP equalizer and the MMSE linear equalizer with perfect extrinsic feedback (LE-PEF) for long block lengths at high signal to noise ratios (SNRs).

An Improved MMSE Turbo Equalization with Matched Filter Based on Hybrid Soft Feedback Interference Concelation

This paper presents an improved soft feedback interference cancelation scheme which is used in matched filtered minimum mean squared error (MF-MMSE) turbo equalization. In the iterative receiver, a kind of combined prior information and a dynamic updating method are adopted to improve the performance. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve 0.25 to 0.5 dB performance gain o...

Linear Equalizers for Turbo Equalization A New Optimization Criterion for Determining the Equalizer Taps

This paper investigates the subject of turbo equalizations in which a receiver combines the equalization and decoding process in an iterative fashion. In order to save in complexity, a linear equalizer with two inputs, one for the received signal and one for the extrinsic information, replaces the aposteriori probability (APP) processor used for the equalization. The equalizer tap gains are det...

Near-Capacity Three-Stage MMSE Turbo Equalization Using Irregular Convolutional Codes

Traditional Turbo EQualization (TEQ) schemes suffer from residual bit errors due to the non-recursive nature of the channel imposing Inter-Symbol-Interference (ISI). The performance of the traditional TEQ scheme may, however, be improved if an intermediate recursive channel codec is invoked, which results in a three-stage serially concatenated system. This intermediate code is necessary, especi...

Comdined Turbo Block Decoding and Equalisation

In this paper, the combination of equalization and turbo decoding is studied. In the iterative decoding of a product code in block turbo coding system, the equalization process is performed within the iteration loop. The present study aims to investigate the decision feedback equalizer (DFE) incorporated in the iterative decoding. Simulation results show that the more severe the channel interfe...

Wireless broadband single-carrier systems with MMSE turbo equalization receivers

Broadband single-carrier modulated signals experience severe multipath distortion when propagating through the physical medium. Correcting the distortion with channel equalization is the foremost task of the detector. Prior information about the transmitted signals in the form of channel decoder feedback can significantly enhance equalization accuracy. An algorithm that iteratively performs cha...
